Derrick Thompson founded the foundation in 2016, because he saw a need for youth empowerment in his community. The native of Franklin, Virginia believes every child deserves a clean slate and opportunity to succeed in life. This need for youth empowerment and his desire to help others drove his passion to create a space for young people to grow. Since the organizations conception, DTF has serviced numerous kids by Back To School drives, Diaper Bank, Academic Awareness, and We Care Program.
